KONG SALY – professional Helicopter Hoist Operator safety lanyard

KONG SALY is a specialised adjustable restraint and work positioning lanyard developed for Helicopter Hoist Operators (HHO) and other helicopter cabin crew applications.

Its primary function is to secure the operator during helicopter rescue hoist operations while allowing sufficient freedom of movement inside the cabin and at the cabin door.

SALY connects the operator's harness to the helicopter safety point. The standard configuration uses a 3-action Autoblock connector and a high-visibility aluminium TANGO 360 Double Gate carabiner safety system.

Adjustable length from 77 to 259 cm

The integrated adjustment device allows SALY to accommodate a wide range of helicopter cabins and operator positions. KONG specifies a length range of 77–259 cm from anchor point to anchor point.

Emergency Quick Release System

SALY incorporates a 2-action Quick Release System designed for rapid evacuation during emergency situations such as helicopter ditching or crash.

The system is easy to reach, can be operated with one hand and works both under load and without tension on the lanyard.

Aluminium swivel

An integrated aluminium swivel allows the lanyard to rotate as the operator moves throughout the cabin, helping prevent twisting and improving freedom of movement.

Integrated overload indicator

An overload indicator is incorporated into the swivel joint of the connector to provide an indication of the lanyard's integrity and performance following high-rate acceleration under load.

High Visibility safety components

High-visibility connectors and tabs facilitate cabin crew cross-checks before opening the helicopter door in flight and make it easier to verify correct connection to both the aircraft safety point and operator's harness.

EN 358:2018 – PPE Category III

KONG SALY is Category III Personal Protective Equipment certified according to EN 358:2018.

According to KONG, SALY can be used as a restraint lanyard to limit movement and prevent access to a fall hazard, or as a work positioning lanyard allowing the user to work supported or under tension.

Important: SALY is not intended to arrest a free fall. The system must be configured so that the user cannot reach a position where a free fall can occur.

Maximum user weight: 150 kg

According to the manufacturer's instructions, SALY is suitable for one person weighing up to 150 kg, including equipment.
