Opinel néo7 Alpine Dark Brown is a modern technical folding knife conceived for mountain activities where every gram, reliability and immediate handling matter. The néo7 Alpine was developed in collaboration with the French National School of Skiing and Mountaineering (ENSA).
Weighing only 41 g, it is designed for ski touring, climbing, mountaineering and ice climbing. Its technical features include an 8 cm serrated blade, easy one-handed opening, OPIFLEX® blade retention system, integrated 100 dB whistle, lanyard hole and screwdriver bit slot.
The knife features an 8 cm serrated martensitic stainless steel blade designed to provide high-quality cutting performance and excellent corrosion resistance.
The European-origin stainless steel has a hardness of 55–57 HRC and combines excellent sharpness with high resistance to abrasion and corrosion.
An eyelet in the blade reduces weight while making the knife easier to open. The protruding blade tip acts as a mini scraper and also facilitates one-handed opening, including against a suitable hard surface.
Instead of the traditional Opinel Virobloc® locking ring, the néo7 Alpine uses the new OPIFLEX® blade retention mechanism.
OPIFLEX® is a non-locking mechanism designed to simplify opening and closing while providing smooth, natural and intuitive handling.
The handle combines polypropylene reinforced with 30% fibreglass and cork. This construction is designed to provide low weight, durability, grip and comfort in demanding mountain conditions.
The Dark Brown version features a rugged, understated appearance inspired by the alpine environment.
A 100 dB safety whistle is integrated directly into the handle, providing an additional signalling function for mountain and outdoor use.
A lanyard hole integrated into the ferrule allows the knife to be attached to equipment, a backpack or another convenient location.
With the blade closed, the néo7 Alpine provides a slot for a standard screwdriver bit, adding useful functionality for small technical tasks in the field.
Choose the Opinel néo7 Alpine when minimum weight and mountain-specific functionality are priorities. At only 41 g, it combines a serrated stainless steel blade, OPIFLEX® mechanism, easy one-handed opening, reinforced technical handle and integrated 100 dB whistle in an exceptionally compact tool.
The néo7 Alpine is particularly well suited to mountaineering, climbing, ski touring, ice climbing and technical mountain adventures. It is an excellent choice when every gram matters and you need a lightweight cutting tool with practical features specifically developed for alpine use.
