Katadyn BeFree AC 1.0L – ultralight 2-stage water filter with activated carbon
Katadyn BeFree AC 1.0L Slate Blue is a lightweight and compact water filtration system designed for hiking, travelling, trail running, cycling and other outdoor adventures. Weighing just 76 g, it combines the fast EZ-Clean Membrane™, a 1-litre HydraPak® SoftFlask™ and replaceable activated carbon.
Unlike the standard BeFree filter, BeFree AC uses a two-stage filtration system. The first stage filters microorganisms and microplastics, while the activated carbon second stage improves water taste and reduces odour, turbidity and chlorine.
Stage 1 – 0.1 micron EZ-Clean Membrane™
The proven EZ-Clean Membrane™ uses hollow fibres with a pore size of just 0.1 micron (0.0001 mm).
The filter is effective against:
- bacteria;
- protozoa;
- cysts;
- microplastics;
- sediments and other filterable particles.
The hollow-fibre membrane has a capacity of up to 1,000 litres, depending on water quality.
Stage 2 – replaceable activated carbon
BeFree AC adds a lightweight, replaceable activated carbon element that improves filtered water taste and reduces odour, turbidity and chlorine.
Activated carbon capacity is up to 200 litres, depending on water quality.
The activated carbon element can be easily removed when taste improvement is not required.
Flow rate up to 2 litres per minute
Katadyn BeFree AC provides a fast flow rate of up to 2 L/min, allowing you to drink directly from the SoftFlask™ or quickly transfer filtered water to another container.
EZ-Clean – easy field cleaning
The EZ-Clean Membrane™ is designed for simple field maintenance without backflushing, syringes or special tools.
Simply shake the filter with water inside the flask or swish the membrane in clean water to help remove debris and restore flow.
1L HydraPak® SoftFlask™
The system includes a 1.0L HydraPak® SoftFlask™ made from TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane). Its flexible and collapsible construction takes up very little space when empty.
The SoftFlask™ is PVC and BPA free.
